Innovative Digital Step from BTU for Internship Processes
BTU’s project titled “EngineerTrack: A Gamified Internship Tracking and Skill Development Application for Future Engineers” has been awarded funding under the Erasmus+ KA220 VET program. Coordinated by Bursa Technical University, the project includes international partners from Romania, Italy, Germany, Serbia, and Greece.
The BTU project team consists of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cihan Kaboğlu from the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences as the project coordinator; Lecturer Elif Atalı from the School of Foreign Languages and Lecturer Ali Kılıç from the Erasmus Office as researchers; and alumnus Dr. Şükran Güney Yılmaz.
Intern Development to Be Closely Monitored
The project aims to enhance engineering students’ internship experiences by supporting them through a gamification-based digital platform, making the process more efficient, traceable, and motivating. Over the course of 24 months, the EngineerTrack project seeks to transform engineering internships from a temporary experience into a sustainable learning and skill development journey supported by strong interaction among academics, industry professionals, and students.
Thanks to the digital platform to be developed, interns’ progress will be monitored in real time by both academic and industry stakeholders.
Project Kick-Off to Be Held in Bursa
Stating that the project’s kick-off meeting will take place in Bursa, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cihan Kaboğlu noted that subsequent project mobilities will be organized in Italy and Germany. Kaboğlu said:
“With the EngineerTrack project, we aim to transform engineering internships into a more efficient, measurable, and sustainable learning experience, empowering future engineers through the TRACK infrastructure. Through the application to be designed, students’ core skills acquired during the internship period, as well as the software and tools they use, will be monitored. By ensuring controllable and gamification-based measurable skills, engineering students’ internships will become significantly more productive.”
