Digital internship tracking system from BTU for engineering students

As part of the Erasmus+ KA220 VET-supported project, all skills acquired by students during their internships will be processed on a specially designed digital platform. Through this platform, students’ progress can be monitored in real-time by both academics and industry stakeholders.

BTÜ’s “EngineerTrack: Gamified Internship Tracking and Skill Development Application for Future Engineers” project has been awarded support under the Erasmus+ KA220 VET program. BTÜ is the coordinator of the project, and international partners include Romania, Italy, Germany, Serbia, and Greece. The BTÜ project team includes Associate Professor Dr. Cihan Kaboğlu, a faculty member in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, as the lead; Elif Atalı, a lecturer in the School of Foreign Languages; Ali Kılıç, a lecturer in the Erasmus Office; and Dr. Şükran Güney Yılmaz, a graduate student.

Intern development can be tracked in real time.

The project aims to make engineering students’ internship experiences more efficient, trackable, and motivating by supporting them with a gamification-based digital platform. The 24-month EngineerTrack project aims to transform engineering students’ internships from a temporary experience into a sustainable learning and skill-building journey supported by strong interaction between academics, industry executives, and students. The digital platform will allow intern development to be tracked in real time by both academic and industry stakeholders.

Project launch in Bursa…

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cihan Kaboğlu stated that the project’s opening meeting will take place in Bursa, and that subsequent activities will be organized in Italy and Germany. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kabaoğlu said, “With the EngineerTrack project, we aim to transform engineering internships into a more efficient, measurable, and sustainable learning experience, empowering future engineers with the TRACK infrastructure. The application to be designed for this purpose will track the fundamental skills students acquire and the programs they use during their internship. The project’s controllable and measurable gamification-based skills will make internships for engineering students more productive.”

Rector Çağlar: We are bringing together quality and innovation in engineering education

BTÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Naci Çağlar expressed his pleasure at the project’s acceptance, saying, “The EngineerTrack project is a strategic step that combines our university’s vision of internationalization with quality and innovation in engineering education. BTÜ’s participation as coordinator in this project, which will be carried out with partners from various European countries, and our being the only university in Bursa to receive support under the Erasmus+ KA220 VET program, are a testament to our institutional capacity and academic expertise. The project will develop our students’ professional skills in the field, while also ensuring their progress is monitored by both academic and sectoral stakeholders, further enhancing the quality of our education. I congratulate all the academics and stakeholders involved in the project.
